Dictionary
Tooltip Extension (View the definition on the same page!):
Paid DictionaryTip version 1.4 & Trial version 1.3 are compatible with Firefox 3.0.
DictionaryTip
extension shows the meaning of the selected phrase in a
tooltip on the same page. Main
idea is "not" to open a new tab or window for
looking definitions when you are seriously reading an article.
It's a great multi-lingual learning
tool.
If you have problems like "Error opening inputstream (invalid filename?", install v1.3 (free version given below) or the paid version (v1.4).
New features in v1.4 includes the ability to save and retrieve the words already lookedup. It can be used as a personal word list manager. Other features include the ability to add custom websites. Fixes the bug found in Mac.
This avoids the following steps
involved in looking a meaning for a word
Open
a new window
Type
in the dictionary url
Type
or copy the word in a lookup/search box
Click
the button Search
It shows the definition from your favourite
website just by double-clicking on the word.
Just Double-click on a word to
get the meaning from your favourite
website on the same page. You can
also select a word(phrase), right
click and click on 'View Definition'
(or) press Ctrl + Shift + K (or
any key of your choice) to get it's meaning. See
it in action
The definition is shown in a small iframe/layer
from a dictionary of your choice and unwanted
stuff (images, etc) is filtered
and removed automatically. So
you see only the necessary content.
Best for those who doesn't like to switch between
tabs or windows (like me) just to see a definition
of the word
This extension is not free. It costs only
$4.99 to install this extension.
So, you are
tipping the author with
just 4.99 dollars. This extension is far more
worth than 4.99 dollars when compared to the time and
frustration to switch windows or tabs. Click
on the "Buy Now" button to start.
Browser Requirements:Firefox
2.0 and above(Please don't buy if you don't have
this version)
Greatly improved the UI:
It enables the user to move, resize the tooltip. Also,
there is an option for selecting a small icon instead of directly
showing the tooltip. This enables the user to select the word
by double-click.
Manage dictionaries and preferences
directly from the tooltip: An "option"
link is added in the tooltip for editing the preferences and
dictionaries/websites. The drop-down shows only the preferred
dictionaries selected by the user.
Add custom dictionaries:Most wanted feature is now available. Users
can add custom dictionaries and also do the slicing of the
unwanted part from any site.
IE users, make a switch to firefox
(atleast install it) and experience the joy of browsing
with firefox. Any feedback on bugs, enhancements, modifications is most
welcome and really important. Do not forget to mail me at feedback@dictionarytip.com
